ONLINE ENTRANCE TEST

Dear applicant for the study of General Medicine study program at the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin, Comenius University in Bratislava!

Due to the current epidemiological situation caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2019 and the related disease COVID-19, travel restrictions as well as quarantine measures, and in accordance with Section 108e, par. 3 of the Act no. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments to Certain Acts, as amended, the Conditions of Admission for the academic year 2020/2021 were amended as follows:

  • The entrance exam will be held online. For General Medicine study program in English, the test consists of 40 questions from chemistry and 40 questions from biology. The content of the entrance exam does not exceed the content of full secondary education in accordance with Section 57 par. 2 of the Act 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education.
  • The administrator will contact the applicants via e-mail and will provide further information about the conditions, instructions and the exact testing time (at about 10.00 am).  No later than 3 days before the exam date, the administrator will ask the applicant to download and to install online assessment platform and do a short mock test. Technical requirements are as follows: Windows or macOS operating system with Internet browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge or Internet Explorer) and JavaScript, dual-core processor with a speed of 2.4 GHz or higher, 2GB RAM, a webcam with a resolution of 800x600 or higher and a microphone; internet connection, at least 4GB of free hard disk space for recording and processing.

According to the instructions sent by the administrator, an applicant logs in to the online assessment platform at the specified time. Before the test starts, an applicant has to proof his/her identity through a webcam and ID with a photograph. A photo of the card as well as of the applicant will be taken for subsequent identification and inspection, and a room scan - by rotating the camera by 360 ° - can also be made. After identification, the test will be made available to the applicant.

Time limit for the test is 90 minutes and consists of 80 questions (40 questions from Chemistry + 40 questions from Biology). Each question has six possible answers  a, b, c, d, e, f. Only one is unambiguously correct.

Throughout the entire testing, the system automatically validates and controls whether the test is really done by the applicant.  Online assessment platform blocks other applications in the computer.  Entire testing will be recorded from the applicant's webcam, microphone and a desktop, and so-called risk score will be calculated for each applicant. This score indicates the possibility of unsatisfactory performance during the test, e.g. leaving the room, the presence of another person, voices in the room, the use of a mobile phone and the others - and the potential risk of cheating. For each tested person, all these situations with an increased "risk score" are subsequently validated by the administrator, who decides whether it was an unsatisfactory performance and whether the test will be recognized.

Entrance test evaluation

The applicant gets one point for each correct answer. The maximum score is 80.

Only those achieving a sufficient amount of points from the written test that places them in top 150 will be accepted on the program. Other achievements, e.g. previous study results, sports or other activities are not taken into account.

The score will be announced to the student by the administrator on the day of entrance exam. Provisional results will be published under the applicants 's code after delivery of the results from SCIO (within 7 days of the entrance examination) on the faculty's website
